My daughter sent me a picture of a red hat and said “Do you have the pattern for this? I did not so I tried to reverse engineer it.
Big details: Raised texture on every other row and (I think) different widths.
Fourth Attempt: Maybe this doesn’t need hdc, could be just all dc?
Result: The hdc is important.
Also this is another boring hat, so I’m adding some dark green Edition 3 to it. I think it’ll still work for a guy’s hat and scarf for Richie.
Added two rows of surface crochet to the side of hat and five rows of rib to the bottom in the darker green.
Added a row of surface crochet to one row of the scarf and five rows of rib to the ends in the darker green.
Basic Scarf:
Ch 150.
One row of hdc, ten rows of dc, one row of hdc.
Two rows of surface crochet in dark green Edition 3.
Five rows of rib on ends of scarf in Ed 3.
Basic Hat:
Note: Instead of a turning chain, I do one sc, and then a sc on top of that sc to count as a full dc at the beginning of a row.
Magic Circle
Row 1: 12 dc
Row 2: 2 dc in ea dc, turn (24 dc)
Row 3: I dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat around, sl st to close, turn. (36 dc)
Row 4: 1 dc in first two dc, two dc in next dc, repeat around, sl st to close, turn (48 dc)
Row 5: I dc in first three dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat around, sl st to close, turn (60 dc)
Row 6: 1 hdc in first four dc, two hdc in next dc, repeat around, sl st to close, turn (72 dc)
Row 7 to the row where the depth of the hat is reached: One stitch in ea stitch (72 dc).
Rib: Standing sc to stand in for FPDC, then alternate FPDC and BPDC around, sl st to close. Repeat until rib is the depth desired, putting FP in FP and BP in BP.
