Notes

I impulsed five balls of Calypso Meader to see what it looked like. It’s gorgeous. And now it’s sold out. So I pulled the ends out on all five balls and matched them so that there wouldn’t be any abrupt color changes and I’m just going to work the pattern as is until I run out. Depending on how big the shawl is then, I may add another yarn that picks up one of the colors and then use surface crochet on the post rows to pull that color throughout.

Started with a J hook, switched to a K on the first mesh row. They are not the same kind of hook, so that might be a factor in sizing.

I omitted the first two rows of popcorns because they’re yarn hogs.

First skein of yarn is 17” from center back to point.

I omitted all the popcorns and stopped at X inches. Maybe should have been bigger. Love this yarn, love this pattern. Had enough left over for a slouchy hat I also love. Still thinking about whether to add flowers to the border mesh. I have enough orange yarn left over to do it, but the flowers turned out to be kind of overwhelming and I like how understated the pattern is now. Thinking about just sticking with geometry here.

Hat pattern is here:
