Cast on for #hapalong with Knit British today 4/10/15. I’ve been wanting to use my GBWW romney for a while and I think this is the right project even tho this is a sport weight and the pattern calls for fingering. I went down a needle size to achieve gauge but got 18st x 36r for 4” which is actually under gauge.
Ended up ripping this out as I didn’t like the fabric I was getting and gauge wasn’t going to work with border.
….
Bought some lovely Blacker Yarn which is so soft and squishy. It’s a looser plied yarn and very fluffy. Chose to use Harrisville Designs and Jamieson’s shetlands for border.
This hap was quite the challenge, especially the fan and feather part which I kept losing track of (even with a ton of markers!!!). The pattern is great and the road blocks were all me as the pattern is clearly written. There are mistakes throughout my FO because I couldn’t keep ripping out and ripping out as there was so much ripping out done already. However, as a result, my next cast on will be the Northmaven shawl by Kate Davies because that is entirely fan and lace (of some sort) and I will master this, GDI!
FO is blocking as I write this. I’m so excited to see it all finished and it will be well loved for years to come.

blocked and dried overnight. Oh my, how I love this hap! It grew to 60” point to point diagonally. The shetland bloomed and softened and has blended in with the beautiful and fluffy Blacker. I’m beyond thrilled and a tad bit proud of how this came out.
