Sakiori is the art of weaving using rag strips. I wove this on a prewound saori warp (black cotton I think, it came with my loom when I bought it). The weft is narrow strips of recycled sari silk and other fabric strips interspersed with three picks of viscose.
The fabric was quite stiff when it came off the loom but after going through the washing machine on the “delicates” cycle it softened up and a final pressing gave it it’s shine back.
I’m really pleased with this fabric and hope to make a jacket out of it but may have to ponder it for a while.
