This hat was so much fun to make. I probably ended up using about 70 feet of i-cord. I only got to the bottom of the sides with the 50 feet I made at first. I just cranked out more as I needed it to finish the brim.

I made a hat form out of cardboard. First I cut an oval piece using a plastic plate as a guide, then taped two long strips around it.

Next time I’ll fill it with foam or something, since it smooshed in a bit as I wrapped the cord around the side which made the hat tighter around than expected. It fits me a bit snugly, but should do fine for Barb.

I made the brim shorter than called for in the pattern because I liked how it looked. I may make a second hat out of some lovely linen yarn I saw at Knitwits yesterday. If I do, I’ll make it with the wider brim.

Got 49 feet of icord with 3 skeins.

The Embellish Knitter is a fabulous little tool. It is meant for lighter weight yarns (DK and lighter), but is doing fine with this worsted weight.
