Finished size: 45” x 65”
Colors used:
- MC: Linen
- CC A: Mango (A-D appear in 5/6 large motifs)
- CC B: Pink
- CC C: Hot rose
- CC D: Ocean
- CC E: Light peach (appears in 4/6 large motifs)
For the octagons and squares, when working the MC over the CCs, I added one extra yarn over (yo) for each of those tall stitches (otherwise, you really need to pull the stitch up really high to minimize curling). So, for “fpdc” I did 2 yo, “fptr”, I did 3 yo, for “fpdtr”, I did 4 yo.
Octagon 1: Measured about 20” across when finished.
Grams used for each part of a single octagon (I weighed the yarn before and after I was finished to get an accurate weight… turns out the full skein weight does not always match what the label says). Note that 1 gram is approximately 1.78 yards, based on the yarn label (355 yards, 199 grams):
- MC: 132 g --> about 235 yards (rounding up)
- CC1: 12 g --> 22 yards
- CC2: 15 g --> 27 yards
- CC3: 20 g --> 36 yards
- CC4: 12 g (note that this is just one round of dc) --> 22 yards
I didn’t measure yardage for the squares or triangle/edge pieces.
The edges of the octagons and squares are not super flat/straight, which might make this a bit wonky when joining. If I ever make this again, I’d modify corner sts to bring those out a bit further.
Joining method same as this project of mine (see for pics and instructions) https://www.ravelry.com/projects/toriellen/crazy-patchwor...
I lost track of how much main color yarn (white) I used… 3-4 skeins I think. Didn’t even use a full skein of the other colors.
This was a lot of work. I love it, but won’t make it again. Off to Project Linus it goes!
