I’m making an afghan for my son and for the four corner squares I wanted to have something meaningful to him right now in his life:
1st I added an applique resembling his dog
2nd a heart (love from mum)
3rd applique of an elect guitar
4th to symbolize that he grew up in Hong Kong - a “I Love HK” square.
For the Dog Granny Square I got the idea from: http://www.crochetspot.com/crochet-pattern-animal-appliques/ - however, I didn’t use their pattern.

The other two I made them up myself.
