11/2 cottolin from R&M Yarns
8 yards
452 ends
2 strands together for 113 pass pairs
24 epi in 12 dent reed
18.82” wide in reed
Rosepath threading
HW May June 2000
Runner is 7 ft long finished size
Plus 5 towels.
First bout 56 pass pairs; second bout 57.
I sized the warp chains in liquid starch. Not one broken thread.
Runner: weave 2” in 1/26 linen singles for hem
Weave 2” in 11/2 cottolin, then place one pick of pattern thread, one pick of cottolin, one pick of pattern thread for border. Weave vegetable border per pattern. This section including beets from border stripe to border stripe measured 7.75”. Wove center to 76”. Then repeat border (from border to end of hem measures 12”).
Beets/hearts is 23 pattern picks and measures 1” tall.
For beets (Strickler #112) I achieved the 18 treadle design by using the cord I had tied up with “Top o the lamm” method; it was super simple to change the tie up of that single treadle after each pick. That way I avoided a skeleton tie up which would require me to press many treadles at once.
Strickler #104 red hearts scattered along edges, 5 repeats.
Lift shaft #1 and count in 12 threads (each of these threads are the center of a design). Weave 12” between heart motifs.
8ft total on-loom length. Off loom 94” x 17.35”.
After 11% shrinkage, it should be 7 ft long.
