This was a long work in progress, mainly because I had to rip back twice and then lost my mojo.
Yep, there are many joins seen with a naked eye, the rippling effect is busy and irregular and overall it’s far from perfect, but I’m happy with it nonetheless.
Still had some yarn left after the neck and sleeves, so I cast on at the bottom and crocheted top-down for 4 full rnds and 2 rnds of triangles (starting and finishing),
How to:
Body:
CO 140 chains: 20 triangle bases, each 7 sts.
Join in the round.
Tunisian entrelac for 27 rounds.
Work rows/tiers 28-36 of the front and back separately from now on, shaping the neckline.
Row/tier 37 - connect front and back.
Neckline:
TSS - 1 rnd, TRS - 5 rnds.
Central stitch - dec 2 every round (3 --> 1)
Additional shaping at the sides and back in rnds 3-5.
BO in slip stitch.
Sleeves:
10 entrelac triangles in the arm opening.
2 rnds of entrelac squares.
BO round in finishing triangles.
Gauge:
1 entrelac square is 3x3cm.
Triangle base is 4.24 cm.
4x4 squares = 11x11cm. A little bit more, actually. 11.2.
Hook: Tulip Etimo 4.5mm. Love it.
Very helpful videos - here.
A few days passed since I finished the top when I went to visit a friend. And look what I saw displayed on her wall (last pic) - two pictures by her late husband, made about 40 years ago! My patterning is so much like it, especially if looking from afar!
note to self:
If I learn TSS in reverse, basically reverse crocheting (left-handed crocheting), I can make fabric not dissimilar to knitted entrelac.
