74/5 sts
CC - Chocolate Lime (right hand, background)
MC - Nutmeg (left hand, dominant)
Should’ve swapped the hands/yarns - green was supposed to be the dominant one.
Followed the pattern almost to a T.
Slight variation to how I was doing the double increases (repositioned a strand in the stitch below).
Also, did 15, not 14 rnds of leg. This offset the CC/MC directions for the heel for me. Where the pattern says CC, read MC and vice versa.
Heel inc in rounds 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 37.
57 sole sts total.
Asymmetry within the heel - different number of sts on each side of the stripes marker. Was it supposed to be like this?
Round 38 - as set.
39 (row) - start heel dec.
Heel decreases and stranded knitting in rows:
I was purling when making one sock (Portuguese style) and mirror knitting (backwards knitting) when making the other - the latter produced a more cohesive look. Also, in the first one I accidentally swapped the dominant and standard yarns and the heel looks slightly different. The difference is vivid on the wrong side.
Knitting with Chiaogoo 9 inch circulars was very tricky at first and VERY SLOW. Also, my gauge is different than the one on Magic loop, so I miscalculated the size - it’s a bit too wide. When there is enough fabric to hold on to, it becomes more comfortable, but still, 9 inch needles wouldn’t be №1 choice for me.
If I do it again:
Opt for a rounder toe or, ideally, start toe-up.
If using 3mm 9-inch - go for 68 sts size.
