Notes

As I was making Trevor’s friend, Norman the peacock, it struck me that, design-wise, a peacock isn’t so very different from a turkey. I thought it would just be a case of changing the tail and perhaps making a different head. “I can do that before thanksgiving,” I thought to myself, “and DEFINITELY before Christmas!” But then I started making a turkey and realised that there are lots and lots and LOTS of differences. Even the beaks are different. How can beaks be different?! In the end, I changed: the tail, the body, the legs, the head, the beak AND the wings. So, in short, EVERYTHING. Apart from the feet. The feet are the same!

I’m particularly proud of Trevor’s tail, which started life as a load of maths. Did I mention that it’s knitted in ONE piece?! I know! If I was making Trevor again, I don’t think there’s much I’d change, although I do think he’d look rather snazzy made in sparkly black wool. I’d also aim to have him finished by thanksgiving or, at the very latest, Christmas. And not January. Oops.
