Notes

I cheated…….I waited until the mystery was unveiled to start this. Mystery KALs are not really my thing. Several of my friends were doing this and once I saw theirs (and other participants) I just had to join.

I pretty much followed the pattern until I got to Section 5, Chevron Shenanigans. I wanted to some color to tie in with the rest of the shawl so I put 1 row of each other color. I also wanted the right side to be in stockinette instead of the garter look. I order to do this, I did do some maneuvers (knitting same rows twice) similar to Section 4.

Here’s the details: (14 rows total -- I’m call Row 1 A and Row 2 B:
Rows 1-3: as written
Rows 4: Row B but purl instead of knit
Row 5: Row A but use color B
Row 6: Slide stitches to work same side, Row B use Color A
Row 7: Row A but use color C
Row: 8: Row B but purl instead of knit use color A
Row 9: Row A but use color D
Row 10: Break A to start on wrong side, Row B with purls instead of knits, use Color A
Rows 11-14: as written

The other change is that I did a different centered decrease. I slipped 2 knitwise, K1, pass the 2 slipped stitches over.

If I were to do this again. I think that I would experiment to make the central decrease twisted so it would stand out even more and always be a knit stitch on the right side of the work.

I’m not sure of the grams on each skein but I think it might be 100. Here is what I have left:
Greco (A): 51 g
Baltic (B): 57 g
Optic (C): 58 g
Big Sur (D): 39 g
