Notes from the other side:

• If you are going to knit these mittens (and you should!), I really, really, really, really, REALLY (really) recommend you add an extra horseshoe repeat in the hand length and increase the length of the thumb. As written, these are waaaay too short for hands of normal grownup size.

• Having made these on the recommended size 8 needles (for a gift) and size 10/10.5 (for myself, and I have humongous man hands - my wedding ring is a size 10), I am of the opinion that if you are knitting these for an adult human, needles no smaller than size 9 should be used.

• This yarn color is really tough to photograph accurately. It’s closest in the “in progress” photos.

10/29/10 Finished the second mitten.

I had some issues with this one, I don’t know why. I probably was less attentive to the pattern for mitten #2, having had such an easy time on #1.

Anyway, it’s finished, just gotta photograph.

10/17/10 First mitten is complete.

My changes:

• HAND: Work rows 57 through 63 TWICE. This gives one extra horseshoe in the length of the hand. Resume pattern at “Row 64”.

• BO: Kitchener the last 6 stitches.

• THUMB: Add 3 rows to “Row 3-12” so that it becomes “Row 3-15”. Rows 13 & 14 become 16 & 17.

10/12/10 Decided to give these a whirl on DPNs instead of using the Magic Loop, this time. I’m using the needle size specified in the pattern this time, too (last time, when making these for myself, I upsized significantly). I do intend to add an extra cable repeat in the hand length and increase the thumb length as well.
