5/8/11 Happy Mother’s day! The blanket has been gifted to Carrie and Malav for baby Leela Isabelle’s impending arrival. The baby shower was lovely and Carrie seems to really like the blanket. Yay! I did indeed skip blocking… and nobody cared! Freeeeedooooooom!

4/9/11 Finished, finally. Which is to say it has been bound off and all ends have been woven in. Still need to block, which I may skip entirely, and photograph. From the Department of Irony Department: I chose this pattern for a couple of reasons, and one of those reasons was that I thought it would be a quick knit. And then it took me 4 months to finish.

12/9/10 So this blanket gave me a crapload of trouble at the start. I counted my cast on carefully, (145) and knit the first three rows. I counted, again, carefully, and still had 145 stitches.

And then I knitted row 4 and proceeded to rip out row 4 THREE FREAKIN’ TIMES. The third time I frogged the whole rotten thing and begged for help.

Enter Jay and Cate. Their collective wisdom produced the following: Cast on, and knit the first two rows. On row three, place a marker after the first 6 stitches, and then after every 11 stitches thereafter, ending with 7 stitches. When you turn your work to begin knitting row 4, you will begin with those 7 stitches.

12/7/10 Now that I’ve finished <3 for baby Claire, time to start knitting for Malav and Carrie’s baby, due in late May.
