Made it up the pattern and tried it on as I knitted it in the round.
Started with 2x2 rib for the neck until desired length. After knitting in the round for about an inch, I removed twelve stitches to another short set of circular needles in the same size, broke the yarn, and then continued on the other remaining stitches, knitting back and forth in stockinette, increasing every other row until I felt it would be a good leg hole length. That is the point at which the two ‘in progress’ photos were taken.
At that point, I had to wait for another skein of yarn to arrive in the mail. When it did, I found the color to match my place on the chest piece and started at that point in the skein. I continued the chest piece in stockinette, increasing every knit row until it was of a length to match the body piece.
When the chest flap and body flap were of the correct length relative to each other, I simply began knitting at the end of one of the chest rows on to the body, and continued in the round.
Trying it on Susie for size, I switched back to 2x2 rib for the final two inches so that it would cling without rolling.
FO pics to come.
