THIS IS AN ADVANCED PATTERN that assumes you know things about amigurumi.

Be cautious when paying for patterns from this designer - no refunds are given once the pattern is downloaded.

i should point out when i say there are “adjustments” that are not indicated, this could mean adding an extra stitch, doing the rows as joined instead of continuous, or even turning the rows as non in-the-round crochet (also joined rounds). (based on the pictures, the rows aren’t turned though.) {{the designer has indicated the rounds aren’t joined, however. my own experiment is still pending.}}

i will, however, finish out this pattern because it’s for my nephew.

Backpack:
after r4 (which is really r3, because “row 1” is the chain), you’re to crochet around the rectangle for 37 stitches - 14 (bottom) + 4 on first end + 14 (top) + 4 on second end = 36. if you count the ch 1 on each corner, that’s 40. still not 37.
I would also make this r4, instead of including it with row before it. therefore:
r5 - sc in each sc in BLO
rework: BLO in each sc, skipping ch1 at the corners (36)
to close backpack:
r17 - ch 1, turn, FLO 14 sc, ch 1, turn
r18-19 - sc in each sc across (14), ch 1, turn
FO after r20, leaving a tail for sewing. stuff backpack, use tail to sew remaining sides of bottom. FO

~in the end, my own modifications made it 10 stitches across for the short sides, and only 9 rows. otherwise it would have been too big. which is interesting since i’m using a smaller hook than the original pattern - and it was made with the same weight yarn i’m using. the original pattern made a 28 cm high stuffie. from front paws to ear tips, my Chase measures about 35 cm, with a smaller hook.

at the beginning of the pattern, there’s a detailed list of materials needed. one of the “small bits of yarn” colors missing is black. one of the felt colors missing is blue.
these are items i have, but just more to add to all the other omissions on the list.

Hat:
r6 – 17 sc, (inc, 1 ch, inc) in next stitch, 4 sc,
(inc, 1 ch, inc) in next stitch, 8 sc
^there’s only 30 stitches in row 5, and this utilizes 31. the last part of the instructions should be 7 sc, not 8.

r8 – 21 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec, 3 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec
^this says that row 7 has 34 stitches, but row 6 and 7 have the same number of stitches, which is 36.
rework: 21 sc, dec, 1 sc, 2 dec, 1 sc, 2 dec, 1 sc, dec (30)

r9 and 10 – 15 sl st, 21 sc, 6 sl st. FO
^by my count, this is 42 stitches… but row 8 was a decrease row, and should only have 30 stitches. where does the 42 come from?
rework: 15 sl st, 15 sc. FO after row 10

Hat Brim:
1 - start in stitch 16, but turn, not FO after 21 sts.
2 - sl st 3, sc 13, leave last 4 unworked. turn
3 - sl st 3, sc 5, leave last 4 unworked, ch 1, turn
4 - sc 5, turn
5 - sl st 4, sc around, join with sl st, FO

Ears:
r3 - 7 sc, turn (don’t chain)
r4 - 6 sc, 1 ch, turn
where does the first sc go? which stitch gets skipped?
rework r4 - skip first stitch, sc into last 6 sc, ch 1, turn
do this throughout, where you skip the first stitch of the row and sc into the remaining sts.

technical writing inconsistency to note: the Outer Ear is written with the ch 1, turn and turns at the END of the row; the Inner Ear is written with the ch 1, turn and turns at the BEGINNING of the row. this is not consistent with technical writing, which strives to be uniform. Also, leeway could be given if this pattern was free.

r16 - put on the vest, chain 5, 33 sc, chain 5, 5 sc (48 sts)
~position and sew on front legs
~i also did rows 17 and 18 around before putting the vest on.

~rows 21-24 of the vest are wrong:
17 to 20 – sc in each sc (48)
21 – (9 sc, dec) -> (10 sc, dec) (44)

so, not joined rounds. but on the head and snout, there’s some adjusting/stretching/pulling/blocking, something to get your rows of Dark Brown to line up the way they do. going around in spirals creates diagonal leaning stripes. it’s what it does. so how did yours do yours?

you say Skill Level is Beginner. MOST Beginner patterns will tell you when to start stuffing your part as well.

so, here’s what I have so far

Head:
r 9 to 13 – 24 sc in DB, 6 sc in LB, 2 sc in DB, 6, sc in LB, 4 sc in DB (42)
{{but you said - Head: Rows 9 -13 (65 stitches)}}
{{there is NO WAY these rows have 65 rows in them}}

r 24 – (2 sc, dec) 5 in DB, 5 sc, dec in LB, 4 sc in DB
{{you said “Row 24 – (2 sc, dec) 5 in DB, (3 sc, dec) in LB, 4 sc in DB” - I’m not sure how this is the same.}}

Snout:
in rows 5 through 9, the Dark Brown stitches should be on the TOP. in order to get the DB stitches on the TOP, I had to do them as the FIRST stitches of the row - not the last.

Body:
starting with row 3, this is not the usual increases of most amigurumi, so a stitch count at the end of each row as in r1 and 2 is quite helpful.

you also say that you used old scrap yarn for the part that’s under the vest. what’s the FIRST row that MUST be Dark Brown? - that’s not listed.

starting with row 31, I have no idea how many stitches each row should have, what with all the decreases and color changes.

Row 36 and 37 are incomplete - I was three stitches short in row 36 and two stitches short in row 37.

Legs:
r14 – inc, 10 sc, inc, 8 sc (22) -- you increased in this row, but didn’t change the stitch count.

Vest: - this is the part I’m up to right now.
r11 to 15 – 27 sc, cut the yarn and connect in stitch 32, crochet 5 sc, cut the yarn and connect to stitch 42, crochet 6 sc
{{there’s a MUCH easier way to do this - sc in 33 sts, chain 1, turn, for 5 rows, cut yarn. skip 5 stitches, and sc in next 5 sts, ch 1, turn, for 5 rows.
r 16 - put on the vest, chain 5, 33 sc, chain 5, 5 sc (48 sts) }}

and that’s what I’m up to.
if anything - change the SKILL Level to intermediate or ADVANCED, because this is NOT a beginner pattern.

Hi! I’m sorry for the inconvenients.
None of my clients have had so many problems with this pattern. Unfortunately I cannot make a return, since you already have a copy of the pattern. But don’t worry, we will try to solve all the problems that arise.
The errors we have found are:

Head: Rows 9 -13 (65 stitches)

Please, check the pattern again, chains should not be done to join each of the rows, this may be making it difficult for the color changes to match. And please read the Abreviations section at the beginning.

the snout’s stripe also (as i knew it would) also goes diagonal. also, the 2 stitches for the dark brown are at the beginning of the row.

each row with increases or decreases does NOT have the number of stitches that are supposed to be in that row - which is not how all the other ami patterns are that i’ve ever used.

there’s no directions as to which row to position the front legs starting at. the vest is started separately, and at row 16 is put on and worked on the ami to complete the vest. also, the part under the vest can use random yarn, but there’s no guidance in the pattern on what the last row of the random yarn should be. i’m starting the vest and when i get to row 16, i’ll sew the front legs on the body then .

this is the comment i left over at the pattern page:

“hi! i bought this pattern to make for my nephew who loves Chase!

however, as of this comment, I’ve made the head and body (so far), and have noticed some typos and omissions in the pattern.

in the head section, there are actual typos in the second for rows 9-13 (it says 25, when it’s actually just 2; and in row 24, it says 25 (again) and it’s actually 5.

for the body, the omissions are in rows 36 and 37 stop after the second change to light brown and don’t have the color change back to dark brown to finish the row.

additionally, (as someone who has made a LOT) of amigurumi, rows never line up as neatly as they do on the face of this Chase without stitch adjustments in the rows - these adjustments have been omitted. I have followed the color changes as indicated, and the strip on the head and underside of the belly are diagonal.

please update the pattern to reflect these changes and adjustments or techniques used.
