Note to self: Using a crochet hook makes working the elastic BO much kinder on my hands

MC Merlot, CC1 Saffron, CC2 Vermillion

Using 3.5mm needles for star stitch and 3.25 for garter mosaic, picked up stitches with 2mm needle

Star stitch is so slow but at least it’s relatively easy to spot any mistakes

As many others didn’t like look of upper edge so picked up stitches and knit a narrow border

Mods

• on increase rows wrapped last st twice to prevent the edge from getting too tight,
• followed this example and added a (backward) YO to the star stitches so I didn’t have to pick up stitches on the wrong side (on upper body before star stitch on r 1,5,9 and after on r 3,7,11, on lower body after before centre and before after),
• instead of kfbf used k yo k knitting the YO through the backloop on the next r,
• in mosaic knit/purl first & last st with CC1 too,
• partitioned each half of the main body into 8 sections before starting to pick up stitches for lower border,
• picked up for upper border with same gauge as for lower = 432 st total, knit narrow stripe section,
• elastic BO on both lower and upper border,
• no tassels.
