The original pattern was hand knit.

Machine: Brother KH-940 Machine

Other accessory: Omni 95 Garter Carriage TD: 6

Cast on stitches: 37 L | 37 R

900 Rows

Latch tool BO

Finished dimensions: 9.5” x 86”

The pattern repeat of this free pattern was very simple: k2, p2, k3.

I programmed this pattern directly into my machine following another example by the wonderful Roberta Rose Kelley. It would have taken me 3x as long to figure this out if I had used the manual. My appreciation of the manual comes only after experimentation. Does anyone else out there who feels this way?

My “program:”

The garter carriage reforms black squares as knit stitches. White stitches are the typical purl stitches.

Row 1: five white squares (“knit”) and
three black squares “purl”), essentially k5, p2.

I kept the last two stitches on each end in stockinette by using the G-point cams that come with the garter carriage.
