Notes

Purpose:
Birthday present for the friend I’ve known the longest. She is the only friend that I have known since high school. I’m glad she has chosen to stay friends with me during really tough times and significant geographical distances.

I can’t wait to see how many ways she’ll wear it!

  • Machine: Brother KH260/KR260

  • Cast on 40 sts ~MB: 20 L/ 20 R ~RB: 19 L/ 19 R ~ Full Needle Rib (FNR)

  • FNR Tension 6/6

  • Main Tension: 8

  • Techniques Practiced:

~~Cabling(Braided, various crossings, 3 x 3 cabled edges without using ribber for purl stitches in main part of neck warmer.
~~ Button Holes
~~ Casting on for Full Needle Rib (FNR) at the end of
the projects by picking up purl bumps from main
bed and placing onto ribber needles

  • Length: 60 inches
  • Width: ~ 7 inches

Observations:

  1. I’m pleased overall.
  2. I should have cast on more stitches and cabled across fewer needles.
  3. I liked the cabled 3x3 edging I used on both ends of the scarf that I learned in Susan Guagliumi’s Craftsy Class: Machine Knitting: and-Manipulated Stitches It would great with plain stockinette to tame edge curl.
  4. This yarn was a dream, but too thick for FNR.
  5. The next time I do FNR on this machine, I’ll go no thicker than DK. I pushed this poor machine too far.
  6. I neatened my FNR buttonholes by whip stitch around them.
