Notes

Jan 21, 2021. So excited to start this test knit - I’ve sat for most of the morning trying to decide on yarns and I’ve gone for spring colours to chase away this winter!
About to cast on - I’m going down a needle size as my yarns are more fingering weight than sport so will see how that knits up.

5 Feb 2021. This knitted up really quickly and it was a pleasure to knit! I’d already finished a grey and yellow DK version of this shawl but I was interested to see how it would work in a fingering yarn and it’s delightful - soft and silky, light and airy, but the merino content of the yarn keeps it warm too, whilst the silk adds a wonderful golden shine. This is definitely one that I can wear now, but that will see me through the spring and beyond too. I love it!

I used just over a skein of the main colour, I think if I’d have gone down a needle size it could well be a one skein main colour project (although do have spare available or be prepared to improvise if you attempt it and find yourself running short). The contrasting colours used a minimal amount of yarn (great for stash busting), the purple about 25g and the creamy/floral about 60g - although I did knit this double stranded as I found the first few stripes were a little lost and needed the weight for the edge of the shawl.

All in all, a project I’d knit again in a flash and one that lends itself to a wide range of colour improvising - I’d love to knit it again in a single neutral colour as I think the textures speak well and don’t need colour variations - although equally I could see a multicoloured version working well if I wanted to use up part skeins.
