17 Nov. Four beautifully hand-wound balls waiting to be knit up… but today I’ve got to practice cello as I have an exam tomorrow. Then will treat myself by casting on!
18 Nov… humble beginnings after a long and tiring day. Good to have made a start, the yarn is gorgeously soft and the colour is heavenly!
20 Nov. Creeping along with this in my limited spare time, I’ve now done 30 repeats of the first section. My lovely grey triangle is slowly growing, but my hands are feeling a little tender - will take it slowly…
22 Nov. A little bit of Sunday morning knitting and my grey triangle is growing. 35 repeats of the first section done.
22 Dec. This project was a little neglected as I messed up the first colourwork section and didn’t have time to fix it until now, teaching done for the year and with a little more spare time on my hands. Love the stripes, and I’m really enjoying the mosaic section - although there are a lot of rows!
28 Dec. Slowly creeping along here, knitting my way through an awful cold, and can only manage a few rows before my concentration lets me down. But quite excitedly starting to see the mosaic pattern forming now, I love it!
2 Jan. A new year has arrived and with it new knitting enthusiasm. I’m most of the way through the second mosaic chart and enjoying the flow of it now. Knitting survived a dog attack today - fortunately he only fancied destroying the wooden needle tips and by some miracle all but one stitch remained on the very much too short cable! And that was only when my back was turned for one minute ! Still, relieved that I wasn’t now struggling through rescuing (or binning) ruined knitting. Phew. Onwards and upwards and from now on, knitting goes on an even higher shelf when I answer the door!
6 Jan. Finished the mosaic section at last. According to the pattern I should be knitting another 18 rows of mosaic but I prefer the symmetry of the diamond pattern as it is now so will move on with the border. The end is in sight!
… the border is a delight to knit, all in the same colour and effectively just a 6x4 rib so it has a lovely rhythm to the knitting - I can’t seem to put it down and am already a quarter of the way through. Must get some sleep and will work on it again tomorrow.
The stitch count after leaving out the 3rd half of section 3 isn’t quite the same as the pattern but as it’s quite straight forward rib, it has been easy to adjust.
Finished and now just need to block. Love it already!
