Notes

I’m going to make an heirloom Shetland baby christening shawl i.e. knit every row it’s going to have rose trellis border around the inside Square which is going to be knit on the diagonal with 4 butterflies and for the rose trellis pattern,I’m going to use the side increases from my shetland supreme book. The butterflies are modified from the Russian Triangular Butterfly Shawl. Incorporate yos for side increases w/i 4 st. garter edge. Each edge begins with sspwise wyif, to provide loop for attaching lace edging.

Finished internal diamond, loosely pin blocked to square 28” on a side. Internal butterfly motif is about 7” for47 stitches. Picked up 167 sts. per side plus corner stitch. Ended up being p/u 9 sts. for ever 7 slipped edge sts. Used p/u technique described in Piecework Russian triangular butterfly shawl in order to keep with total reversibility inherent in garter lace.
