This hat is cludged together using the basic hat numbers from The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns for a 4 SPI worsted-weight hat, plus EZ’s Two Colour Hat from Knitting Without Tears. Oh, and I incorporated the top-down structure of Karlchen, casting on 4 stitches instead of 8.

So overall, here’s what I’ve done:
Cast on 4
Knit into the back and front of each stitch.
Increase 8 times EOR until I have 64 stitches
Knit stockinette for 5”
Knit 30 stitches at the front of the hat with scrap yarn; slip these stiches back on to the left needles and knit them again using the MC yarn. This will be the folding point, so from here on, reverse directions -- Knit stockinette for 5”, decrease 8 times EOR until 4 stitches are left.

At a convenient time, undo the scrap yarn and put the live stitches on two size 6 DPNs. There should be 30 stitches on the top needle, 30 stitches on the bottom needle. (I was actually aiming for 28 stitches, which would have resulted in four 14-stitch teeth. I’m not sure what happened.)

Knit four teeth, using the Brainmonster pattern’s teeth as a guide for the decreases. Since I have an odd number of teeth, it looks like I’ll need to pick up an extra stitch from somewhere and have:
one tooth with 7 stitches
one tooth with 9 stitches
one tooth with 9 stitches
one tooth with 7 stitches

The eyes were cut out of fleece and stitched on.
