Final Thoughts
I modified the charts slightly, removing the owls’ ears to make them into penguins. I also subtracted a few rows from the sleeves and added a few more rows in the Porcini color around where the sleeves join the body.
I wish I’d been able to knit this longer (as you can see, it doesn’t quite cover my butt) but if I had, I definitely would have run out of the Porcini yarn. I don’t know why the pattern/kit considers the Porcini yarn to be a Contrast Color, since it was used far more than any other color in the kit.
Detailed Notes
I belatedly did swatch and discovered that I wasn’t quite getting gauge using the size 10 needles. Have gone up a needle size all around.
3/21/14 - Argh. I went back and added 6 rows to the body and sleeves before joining, and I’m still pretty sure this will come out too small. Gonna try to finish it as it currently stands, block it maybe, and then see if I need to order more Porcini.
Argh 2. Why do I have 118 stitches before sleeve decreases when I should have 124? Where did those 6 stitches go? Undid the last raglan decrease, during which I’d missed two decreases. Still not enough front stitches, so I knit 4 before the 9 stitch chart and 3 after.
Back has 44 = 9 + 9 + 6 + 10 + 10
3/25/14 - Finished everything but the belt and the weaving-in!
4/1/14 - Leftovers are 16 g of the second skein of Bare, 63.5 g of the second skein of Cocoa, 15.5 g and 24.5 g of Porcini.
