Pattern - this is the first time knitting a pattern by Elizabeth. It was a treat! Incredibly well written, with a few knitterly details (ex. Changing needles sizes) that added some lovely finishing touches. I have another of Elizabeth’s patterns in my queue (and a few more in mind) and am looking forward to knitting them. Also, for those new to linen (like myself) between the pattern, a few of her blog posts, and the lovely people in her group, the “linen mystery” was no longer a mystery….which is great since our weather here in TX lends itself towards plant fibers.
Just to clarify my medium difficulty rating….only because there are short rows and the braid HOWEVER, Elizabeth has excellent directions and there are tutorials on her blog that make all of this so much easier to understand.
Yarn - first time using. It really softens up, even during knitting. I do like the the bit of cotton added to it. I’ll be interested to see how it wears.
A few mods to the pattern for fit only…added length to sleeves and body. 3 pattern repeats to sleeves, 4 pattern repeats to body
The Summerlong kal can be found here.
Note on yarn usage: I used all but 10 g of yarn, this included the swatches and the 3-4” of length on the sleeves and body. So if you are taller (I’m 5’9”) and debating on # of skeins, get an extra or two.
Also, a note on the color, the last pics are probably the most accurate, the 1st 3 are a bit too purple.
Eta…a modeled pic so the added length can be “seen”. And after wearing all day, yarn held up great…some horizontal stretching, little to no vertical stretch. And it is much softer than 100% linen.
