Notes

I was asked to design various pieces for the Alberta Craft Council Gallery Store with Alberta in mind in the design. (Alberta, Canada). Using Alberta grown yarns as an accent to promote and show an overall Alberta Design with the Designer, myself, and some of the yarn having had grown or in my case grown up here in Alberta. The theme will be various landscape textures, styles, colours that portray Alberta and the land around us.

I will be using Malabrigo Rios for main parts of the neck warmers as it is such a lovely hand painted yarn and the colours are perfect for what I am trying to achieve. I will also be adding other Alberta grown yarns including some from Alberta Rose Alpacas www.albertarosealpacas.com. She grows her own Alpaca yarns from her beautiful Alpacas. She hand dyed the yarn to my specifications and was amazing to work with. You can see some of her yarn in the pictures, and her cute Alpacas. I will be adding other fibers from local companies as well just to keep it interesting and unique.

There is a picture of the first style the Alberta Bound Neck Warmer. This one was done in a mohair that was from a local producer who also dyes her own yarn.

My next set of Neck warmers will be done with the Malabrigo as it is one of my all time favourite yarns and always a colour inspiration. I will be using the Alberta Rose Alpaca on the accents and the Alberta Rose broche that can be used on the neck warmer or on another item in your wardrobe.

The Alberta Bound Neck Warmer is available as a finished garment on my website soon or on my etsy stie as well. www.vbaberdesigns.com or www.intricateknits.etsy.com The Alberta Broche will be available separately as well soon. You can also buy my designs locally at various locations listed on my website.

The yarn in the pictures is the Alberta Rose Alpaca Yarn and her Alpacas. Sooooo Cute.

Well here goes……….. I will post the new Alberta Bound designs with the Malabrigo Rios and the Alberta Rose Alpaca yarn soon.

Here are the Malabrigo Rios Alberta Bound neck warmers. They were knit in the lovely Rios with 2 strands. The colours are so nice to work with. They resemble various parts of Alberta with the green being the grasslands, hay fields and other crop fields. The blue being the stunning blue skies of Sunny Alberta and the light purple on one of the neck warmers being the vast flax fields of southern Alberta. The final one has a dark base with a mix of purple, green and pink on the top to resemble Aurora Borealis often seen in the evening skies. And of course the Alberta rose broche that is the flower of Alberta.
