Notes

This is a special order for Susanna Kearsley, Author and friend of The Fire Bird, Marianna, Seasons of Storms and many more books. This scarf is based on her new book coming out in the Spring, The Fire Bird.

The base of the scarf has a feathery essence to resemble the Feather on the cover of her book. This feather is the main starting point where the story takes hold and carries you through her wonderful writing. I highly suggest reading some of her books you will not be able to put it down.

There is an embellished broche with 2 layers of ruffles the ivory signifies the Jacobites in this book and some of her others. The white/Ivory rose is a symbol of the Jacobites. There is a gold trim on the feather and the first layer of ruffle on the broche. The Fire Bird is said to have gold in it’s feathers. It also signifies the era of part of the book in the Imperial Russian Era of Peter the Great where gold, diamonds and jewels were a great symbol of their wealth as well a strong component of the embroidered designs on their clothing.

The second layer of ruffle on the broche has a red and beaded trim to signify the diamonds so popular then.

This scarf was a true enjoyment to design for this wonderful new book. You can view her website at www.susannakearsley.com

Changed the feather again in fourth picture to a different style as requested by Susanna Kearsley. Something more streamline and less “fluffy”. I will post a picture of the finished project soon.

Finished today. Yaaaaa. The first 3 pictures show the finished scarf and broche. The others show work in progress and some of the changes made. Loved designing it.
