07/08/2012: wow. it took me that long to take better pictures??? well, here they are, better late than never!
11/09/2010: holy shit. i’m done! i ended up doing 6 peace signs, then the initials, then 4 more peace signs (facing the other way). i’ll try to get better pictures in daylight since the color doesn’t really show correctly.
11/01/2010: omg. this is like. taking FOR…E…VER! argh! anyway. got another 2 peace signs done. discussed with recipient and might only make 4 peace signs total on other half (instead of 6) since she felt it might be too long. so, 2 peace signs to go!
09/29/2010: got the second letter done! now onward with the rest. gotta get this done by november!
09/24/2010: so yeah. still haven’t done the second letter. why? ‘cause it ended up being waaaaay more complicated than i initially thought! i kept getting confused by my own charting but i think i figured out a better way to chart it.
09/09/2010: wow. well, can’t stop the serenity in chicago is done so i’m back to knitting this project. got the first letter done of the initials. it came out much more narrow than i expected but again, i’m too lazy to redo it. ‘cause i realized that if i want the letters to read correctly on each side, that means i need to knit the letters differently on each side and just wrapping my head around the concept took quite a bit of figuring out! so undoing the letter would be undoing like 2 hours worth of work. i asked the recipient if they liked what i had done so far and they like it so i’ll do the second letter tonight and then continue on with the rest of the scarf.
03/30/2010: Up to 6 peace signs! I think I may end up doing 12 peace signs total with a break in the center where I’ll add in the recipient’s initials.
12/24/2009: Haven’t been working on this full time so the progress has been slow. I’m up to almost 4 peace signs (and 21 inches) with only 1 ball of Hacho so this means I could have, potentially, 16 peace signs so the total length could end up being about 8 feet! Hmmmm… I may not make it that long…
I’m using a modified peace sign chart from Joe Jonas Peace Sign Scarf and Chart.
I cast on 32 stitches.
This is a double knit item. The peace sign came out a little more oval than I care for - the angle I took the photo doesn’t capture the shape (more like an american football), but the recipient likes it so no need to frog. \o/
I plan on knitting about 10 rows plain, then start with the peace signs facing me. Then, knit plain again for a bit, knit the same amount of peace signs but now facing away from me and then finishing off with 10 rows plain. Depending on how many peace signs I can get out of the first ball of Hacho, I’ll be able to figure out how many total will be on the scarf.
