11/20/2009: left the damn mitts at a restaurant and they were not turned in. i loved these and got so many compliments about them! hope the new owner treats them right. I’ve got enough yarn left so I might just make another pair.
11/13/2009: Finally! Got around to sewing the beads on and I love it! These large square beads look fantastic. Only problem is that I sewed them on with the same yarn and the yarn is not staying tight in the knots. It’s coming undone. I did thread through the beads twice so they seem to be staying on.
11/9/2009: Found my other size 2 and knit the thumb. Um. I forgot to knit the k1/p1 edging and I cut the thread and wove it in before I realized! So one thumb is shorter than the other. oh well… I may fix it later. So now, all I need is to sew the beads on!
11/5/2009: Broke one of the needles when I was picking up stitches for the second thumb. Must find my other size 2 needle so I can continue.
I was so frustrated! I have easily been able to cast on 2 socks toe-up on magic loop, but could not grasp casting on these 2 mittens at once. Found a great tutorial here
It still was not completely clear but I figured it out after trying a few things.
Bought some beads too, thinking about using a contrasty green vs some more complementary purplish/brownish
2012/10/30: note: i think i reduced the stitches by 10. reducing by 20 resulted in very small mitts.
