These colors--pale satiny grey and an icy lavender--are very refreshing to crochet with at this time of year. Peak FL summer.

This started out a gauge swatch test in my Lotus yarn for a pattern I’m updating. It was originally in Interweave Crochet magazine and I want to release my indie version so that it’ll have a stitch diagram, stitch close ups, etc. Pattern should be ready next week. It’s an important element of the whole “Tunisian on the Diagonal” trajectory I’ve been on since 2009.

I’d hoped to have this pattern re-released by the time I taught the CGOA class on the topic last month. It’s ok though. I wouldn’t have had the chance to experiment with this swatch idea back then.

Anyway, after the basic swatch test, I wanted to try working into the other side of the foundation chain with a different color, like I recently did with Burly Bias. It’s fun to do with diagonal and offset Tunisian rows.

In Instagram I’ve posted only a few of the draping results of this asymmetrical filet rhombus shape. Just adding beaded ties created more wearable ideas such as a halter top!

My earlier photos inspire me to design a tunic and so I’ll create a separate project page for that.
