Finished in time for the Color Stacking class I’m teaching At the Mosaic Yarn Studio in Mt. Pleasant IL March 4 (2017). Still need to line this. I think I’d like the lining to have a zipper. Or else a magnetic snap.

This started out as a last minute swatch for a class in the yarn shop that sells this custom dyed yarn. I figured popcorn stitches crocheted in only some of this variegated yarn’s colors would be a great way to sum up what I teach about crochet stitches in my Creative Color Pooling classes.

The way the popcorns contrast with the band of color-stacked sc + ch 1 adds a contrast between 2 types of stitch games. This band will end up bordering the opening of the finished bag.

Based on the students’ reactions, this swatch accomplished what I intended!

The shop’s custom colors are based on underwater coral reef photos that the yarn shop owner’s husband takes when he goes diving. I so love this. This yarn is dyed to the photo of a Parrot Fish.
