My goals:
- to get immersed in vibrant, rejuvenative, warm fall colors. (Like what I used to enjoy about “pumpkin spice lattes” except I’m tired of that flavor this year.)
- to have a generous, rich drape cowl that I can pull up over my head and see the colors and textures framing my face.
- to have it hug the head but tumble looser around my shoulders without having to do some kind of fancy shaping of this stitch pattern.
- to do this 3-color stitch pattern in the round so I’m not cutting and reattaching.
I had no idea when I started this almost 3 weeks ago that October would be so eventful that I’d only be able to do a few rows per night. Or that it would take this long for me to create a project page for it. In fact, it feels like I started it 2 months ago.
The vibrant, gem-like autumn colors kept me going and helped distract me from so much coming at me in Oct., and the stress of not being able to complete a newsletter issue (until a few days ago, finally).
I’m almost done now. Tonight I start adding a ribbed head opening and I’m so looking forward to it!

On the home stretch now: 1/3 of the ss ribbed band left to complete.
57g Orange Luxe
57g Grenadine
projected 120g Dark Roast.

This came out a generous size because I wanted to also be able to pull it up over my head to wear hoodie or “snood” style, so I could easily eliminate some rounds to keep it to just:
- 1 large ball (100g/256yd) of the darkest color (Dark Roast here), and
- 1 Snack size each (33g/85yd) of the brighter colors (Orange Luxe and Grenadine).
In the other color combo that would be Black Gleam for the darkest, Carbonite and Lustrous Tan for the other colors.
