Made a swatch in a lovely silk/cotton/cashmere yarn from ebay, but unfortunately the yarn is too slippery for this stitch. The opening after the dropped stitch won’t stay open. Will have to try again with a sticky yarn. Bummer.
Knitting a new swatch with Fabel, and it looks like it will work better. The yarn is just sticky enough.
Just discovered this jumper has a wider front than back. Oh dear. Usually I just make both parts the same width, but in this case it seems to have a design function (the tabs). Oh well. I’ll just have to follow the instructions as written then. More or less. My version will have 6 sts more at the bust than the original due to pattern symmetry, but I’ll use the same number of sts for the sleeves. As for the tabs I’ll just have to fudge it. 6 of the tabs will have to have 1 extra stitch in it.

Just stretched the ribbing till its very capacity. It will fit but very snugly. Seems I’ll have to unravel and cast on more sts. I think I’ll cast on 216 and skip the increase row.

This is a very easy knit and grows at an impressive rate, which is very satisfying. I am however not a fan of the drop stitch pattern. It gives an uneven tension. If I’m to knit this jumper again (which I very well might as it’s an enjoyable knit) I’ll use a different stitch pattern.

Started on the sleeves, decided the cuff would be too tight using 2.75mm needles so changed to 3.25mm. It still feels too snug. Bugger it! After careful measuring I’ve realised I’ll have to add 20 sts to make sure it will fit comfortably. Which means I’ll have to unravel the cuff again. Thank deity of choice I decided to knit the sleeves separately. I’ll have to leave it till tomorrow, right now I can’t face it.

Sleeves: cast on 80 sts, do 10 rows of moss stitch, next row increase, purl 14 sts, K2, (M1, k3) 6 times, (M1, k4) 3 times, (M1, k3) 6 times, M1, k2, purl 14

Both sleeves done and joined in with the rest of the jumper. Will knit the final 20 rows before the tabs in the round. Starting to see the end of the top, which is great :)

Don’t know how it happened but the front ended up with 10 more stitches than it was supposed to. Odd, but I still think it will work. I’m on the tabs now, dead dull but the final parts of a project is always a bit of a chore.

Done! I pinned the jumper on my dummy to get the tabs spaced right when stitching them to the neckband. It turned out really well, pictures later :)

Oddly enough as short as this top is I think it would work better if I hadn’t added that tiny amount of length.
