The pattern doesn’t mention any tension, so I’ll have to experiment with different hook sizes and see what looks good.
Will try a Chinese bamboo cotton I got off eBay for this blouse
For inspiration, similar design but different stitch pattern:

17.05.2019 - tension
Waistband:
2.5 mm hook
8.5 sts per inch, 16.5 inches relaxed, stretches comfortably to 18.5
Main stitch:
3.5 mm hook
8.5 sts per inch, 17 inches relaxed, stretches comfortably to 21 inches
I tried 3.75 mm first for the main stitch, but the bodice ended up way too wide, so I unravelled down to the waist band and continued with 3.5 mm. It looks like this works better, and the stitch pattern is very pretty.
17.05.2019 - back
Foundation chain:
146 sts on 2.5 mm hook. This makes for a waistband of approximately 16 1/2 inches. The pattern calls for the back waistband to be a little wider than half your waist size.
The welt looks really good, I had no idea that this simple stitch combination could create such a pretty fabric
19.05.2019 - yarn
This yarn is a powdery teal colour, with more green in it than expected from the pictures in the listing.
It’s very soft and has a nice, subtle shine to it which is less noticeable when crocheted up. It’s a little splitty at the beginning of the skein, but improves after a few rows.
I was worried I didn’t get enough yarn but it looks like I’ll be able to finish it without getting more, which is great as the seller is out of this dyelot :)
Care instructions:
- 40°c, machine wash
- Or dry clean
- Or hand wash
- Iron at 2 dots (120°c- 140°c)
- Dry in the shade
27.05.2019 - front
Chain 162 - 16 stitches more than the back. Do the waistband same as the back, but reduce by 10 sts the final row (27). This should give 25 shells.
The front will have one more pattern repeat width wise than the back.
