This is a very fluffy yarn which resembles mohair. It is in fact an alpaca/merino blend which is really soft.

I used the Washington Square Hat pattern to give me stitch counts but otherwise just made it up as I went - a bit of ribbing at the bottom, followed by stocking stitch and then decreases as per the pattern but decreasing 4 times per round rateer than 3.

It’s a pretty wide hat but as it’s so light it just sits nicely on the head - though it hasn’t yet been worn out in the wind so there’s a chance I will need to thread some hat elastic in the brim.
