I pretty much followed the pattern as written except:

I started the hip increases early - after 5.5” of knitting straight after joining back and front.
Instead of crochet edgings, I simply picked up around the neckline and armholes, knit a few rows of stocking stitch (in the lighter colour) and bound off.

Neckline is slightly wonky but when worn I think it looks great.
