Notes

I first saw this pattern and Karen’s version on the Fringe Association blog. I’ve always thought that men have better clothes so when Karen announced an unofficial knitalong for her Anna pattern which isn’t available in Australia, I thought I’d try redesigning this vintage pattern instead but follow along anyway.

I spent two full days recalculating size and gauge, also using a different stitch pattern taken from my vintage pattern collection. I’ve pretty much redesigned the whole thing, mostly just keeping the vintage shape and flavour of the original.

The pockets were made as for Karen’s vest, really easy and neat and how I’ll do all mine from now on. I worked my sleeve ribs at the same time as the body for a self finishing edge. The button band is worked separately like the pattern and seamed on later.

All the pieces are finished and blocked and the band is in progress. I’m sewing it on as I go slightly stretching it. Found some vintage buttons in my stash that are perfect, they remind me of Dads cardigans - done!
