I love this bag -- it’s become my new everyday bag. I added a magnetic snap closure which makes it more secure, except I should have lined the spot where I put the closure on as it’s starting to pull through the knit fabric.
The knot has come untied once so I should probably stitch it together for added security. The bag stretches to hold quite a lot, but my knitting needles do poke through the knit fabric so lining the whole thing would probably be a good idea.
Notes:
Followed pattern exactly, except for the striping sequence. Instead I did 6 rounds navy and 2 rounds white, and the base was all navy.
Was trying to use up all the navy, and use as little of the white as possible, but I kind of wish I’d done a really wide stripe of navy at the bottom before starting the wide stripes. Oh well, next time.
Actually, I wish I’d followed the striping sequence in the pattern. I don’t really like this blue with white scheme, and I don’t like the contrast handles. Of course then I’d be left with leftover blue and less of the white than I want (I am also making a Ladder Tank with the white). Dangit.
I’ve made the straps a lot shorter so that the bag stays under my arm when I carry it. Less chances for pickpockets that way. I made several attempts at tying a “cute knot,” and in the end I just have a knot that is not so cute but at least isn’t falling open.
It’s hard on the hands to knit linen at such a tight gauge. Ow.
