wish i had knit this in sock yarn so its more standard christmas ornament size. base ball measures about 3.5in across and feels more like an actual doll head then a hanging ornament to me.

Head: only real alteration was doing a pin hole cast on

Ear: CO 18 on two DPNs and knit both sides of ear at once in the round. also didn’t bother stuffing the ears at all.

Mouth: i CO 17 and then did short rows for thee first section, left yarn hanging knit red part as instructed until last line. i only purled 11 instead of all the way back across so both sides will match and just picked the white yarn back up and knit all the way across, being sure to not leave a gap at an turn points when i knit them.
when BO the top of the mouth i slipped the last stitch of the previous BO on the following purl and knit side until it was time to bind that particular stitch off, this way the edge ends up slopped instead of stair-stepy
