Cast on 1/7/16 and finished all knitting and weaving in ends on 1/11. I’m calling it done!!! All that’s left is finding some buttons and sewing them on!
This was a fast knit (maybe 15 hours total including all finishing and I’m a slow knitter) with very clever construction. This pattern is well written, which is great since the construction was not at all intuitive to me - I kept re-reading the instructions on the pattern website and looking at pictures on people’s project pages to make sure I was doing everything correctly - but my anxiety was totally unwarranted… the pattern really is so clearly written (the close-up photos on the purlsoho site didn’t help me much -- I kept thinking “is that a sleeve in that photo or a part of the body or who knows????” -- but the written instructions were great). No mods at all, except I used 3 colors instead of 2. I used the 3rd color - gray - for the button band and as the MC on the sleeves.
This was great for using up some stash yarn - you can easily switch up the stripes or try color-blocking to use up whatever you have stockpiled. Next time I might do a solid color for the body, a second color for the sleeves and a third color for the button bands… the possibilities are endless!
I used DK yarn and a size 4 needle; I’m a fairly tight knitter and I like how this turned out with kind of a structured feel… last note: I’m no expert on baby clothes, but I think this turned out bigger than newborn size - maybe 6-12 mo…?
