Wandered into The Lamb & Kid on a trip to Bainbridge Island. What a happy surprise to find a new yarn shop with such a beautifully curated selection of yarns! On the same trip, I stopped into a clothing boutique and saw a beautiful rainbow-striped White & Warren sweater (last photo), which is the inspiration for my version of the Stripes sweater.

I watched a tutorial for the twisted German cast on and decided it was too much to try to wrap my brain around so I’m going to use the alternating cable cast on instead.
Short rows: Used this tutorial on how to pick up the purl stitch wraps because I can never remember how to do that…

Planning out my stripes, I’ve decided to add in gray and white stripes using some Purl Soho Posy from my stash…

Tried knitting a stripe in Purl Soho Posy in Weathervane Gray, but it had too much variegation in it so it didn’t look right to me. Ripped that back…
Also realized I somehow had too many stitches, so on the 3rd increase, I only added about half the number of increases. Fingers crossed the top of the yoke won’t be too loose.

OK I realized today that my problem with increases was using a M1 rather than LL1 increase! I just thought I was off because I was drinking wine, lol!!!
Oy, I had assumed I could just cheat and use an increase I am already familiar with, but that is what’s causing my problems with the yoke increases. I plan to still use M1, but I will just have to recalculate how many knit sts I need between increases.

I’ve ordered more skeins of Tod yarn from The Lamb & Kid to better replicate the White & Warren sweater, which is making it way more expensive than just buying the sweater would have been (not considering I can prob make at least one more sweater with all the yarn I’ve purchased) - but it is INCREDIBLY satisfying to knit this project with such beautiful yarn.

Man, this is turning out to be my most expensive knitting endeavor ever, but I have a personal mission to finish this without repeating colors. I needed a deep red/burgundy to finish this sweater off and didn’t see one from the Lamb & Kid that looked like it would work (edit: on another pass through their colorways, maybe Chili would have worked?? It looks a little more brown than red). I decided I would look at this sweater and be dissatisfied forever if I didn’t finish it with the color I was envisioning. So after searching all of my favorite yarn sites and spending a lot of time on YarnSub, the only option I found was Rowan Pure Cashmere DK in Port which is easily the most spendy yarn I’ve ever purchased.
I will have 10 partial skeins of leftover Tod… fortunately I have several projects in my queue that I can use them on… the Camaro might have to be my next sweater.

Finally received the last skeins of yarn and finished knitting and weaving in ends… Used my favorite stretchy bind off. Now blocking!
