Notes

How could I not knit shoes after seeing the clever tutorial from Kamilla?

I purchased a pair of Chuck Taylors and made my templates using tracing paper. My gauge is 8 sts/8 rows to the inch so I created my charts based on that gauges.

I knit and blocked all pieces, then applied to the shoes as directed in the tutorial. Rather than cover the shoes completely, I left the area with the shoelace eyelets alone. Several other Ravelers mentioned having difficulty getting the grommets back on the eyelets and I figured this way I wouldn’t compromise their strength. I got black shoes and my background yarn is black, so that worked very well.

I worked a black i-cord edging all the way around the knitted portion of the shoes, and finished them off with i-cord shoelaces in the foreground yarn.

What fun!
