overall thoughts
This is a very simple pattern. It could easily be adjusted for any size gauge. Of note, row gauge is important to this pattern! I added 2 inches to the body and one inch to the sleeves (I should have added another inch to the sleeves) so consider that if when buying yarn. The neckline really is a great feature…its a cross between a crew and v-neck…very flattering, I wish more necklines in patterns were this nice. At least I know how to modify future sweaters

My sizing info
- 36bust x 31waist x 39hips, 5’6” 138lbs
Gauging
#6 wood, unbl 19s x 29r
#7 wood, unbl 19s x 26r
Went with #5 wood.
Update 2/12/22
Well I knit on #5’s till I was 5 inches past the underarm join (the body). I then had a sleepless night. The fabric is too dense and no doubt I will run out of yarn. And I spent way to much money on the yarn not to love it when I’m done. Sooooo, I am reknitting it on #6 and I went back to doing a size 1 ( to compensate for the slightly larger gauge). The fabric is much better. No more sleepless nights The measurements are coming out very close to my favorite fitting sweatshirts…a good thing.
Back
to knit 10.25” is 74 rows
Front
to knit 2.5” to inc is 18r
to knit 4.25” to underarm join is 30r
to knit 13” from front neck to rib is 95r (13” was to short for me and so I knit to 15” and then started the rib)
Bind off
I did not do the sewn bind off, the yarn would not have held up well. Instead I slipped the knit stitch, purled the purl stitch, passed the slipped stitch over the purl stitch, slipped the next knit stitch, passed the purled over, purl the next, etc. I have to say I love the way it turned out…it has enough stretch and no flaring and it looks terrific.
sleeves
knit one more inch than pattern suggested…13” or 97r to rib. decreased to 70 stitches. Rib for 30r and bind off as above.
03-01-2022 LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
This turned out better than my wildest dreams. LOVE the neckline. Love how it’s big but fitted big. No doubt I will make a couple more…both daughters want one.
