Notes

These are black-n-red (Bold Red and Charcoal) mittens because that’s the yarn I had left over from the HoHI sock project. The colorwork motif I’m using is lifted from Stacey14’s heart crook socks (apparently this is Anna Zilboorg’s chart?) and the mitten pattern is HJS studio’s mitten pattern, sorta.

UPDATE Jan. 2015: I am SO TIRED of looking at these being unfinished and mocking my ass. Argh. Must soldier on and get them done so that I can move on to something else. Decreases are going nicely, 3 per round of plain stitch, kinda hides them and doesn’t bork the pattern work.

1-17-15: Above pinkies and ring fingers, Contemplating end shaping and closure while maintaining pattern. I would like to get done with these this weekend.

1-19-15: Can’t count, forgot how to do left-leaning dc’s. Had to rip back. Need crafting light, cannot see sts to pick back up. 1 mitten closed at end, have good plan for other.

2-1-15: I like my approach for the thumbs and the thumb closure. Not wild about how the fingertips came out (they’re sort of square-ish) and on closing the tops of the mittens, I have decided I left too much fabric around the palms of my hands -- it bunches when I cup my hands. sigh Mitten fit is more problematic than sock fit and I hate tight mittens. Looks like I erred in the other direction. Pics to follow, but all ends are woven in and I’m not miserable about how they came out, just kinda meh. I might at some future point try some wrist/hand warmers without ends on the fingers, maybe I will like those better.
