Mom asked me to make a Christmas stocking for Tom to match mine. (Each of my brothers’ families have matching patterns.) The original knitter and yarn aren’t available, so I’m going to be designing on the fly. It was knit flat and seamed up the back. Searched 6 months for the right color and couldn’t find it. I chose a slightly darker (more manly) blue to complement mine. I’m also changing the pink accents to tan to make less girly. I’ll keep the dark rose to give them color cohesion.

8/17/13 Cast on using Mom’s metal straight needles from the 50’s. it feels so sweet.
8/22/13 starting over. Gauge was off from old stocking. Going down to (my Lantern Moon) US7.
8/24/13 charted the snowman from mine with a new app. Changed hat to more masculine top hat. Started my new adventure…intarsia.
11/14/13 finished snowman chart
11/15/13 wove in ends, tidied the back. My intarsia was awful, but the front looks fine!
12/13 looked forever to find correct 2 needle heel pattern. Found one that matches. Switched to in-the-round below heel for trees and toe. Didn’t bother charting.

Done, it’s pretty cute, a little smaller than mine. Gauge got too tight. Mom likes, Tom likes…success.
