2014 update: Never make a baby hat in cotton, you want something stretchier. However I discovered blocking (wet, dried on a balloon!) helped make the hat a bit bigger and now fits up to 3 months as intended rather than newborn.

Liked the pattern a lot, it was very clear and gives a good result. Maybe could’ve offered some tips about sewing the ears together nicely.

Was using 3.5mm hook as pattern suggests until I snapped it around 9 rows into the main hat. I think it might’ve turned out too small anyway.

(brown yarn use is estimated as I used it for two projects)

19 Feb: Main hat (including earflaps and edging) and one outer ear finished. Realised one 50g skein of the yellow Rowan isn’t enough as it’s shorter than the pattern requires.

26 Feb: got some more yellow yarn as I was an ear (and ties) short: just needs some sewing and plaiting and it’ll be finished :)

27 Feb: finished! Sewing the ears and horns on was a bit tricky and annoying but got there in the end. Will trim ties once I’m sure they’re long enough.
