Thicker yarn on 4mm
Alternate on 4mm

Switch at beg of ws row, pull old yarn up and in front of first st, slip that, then move yarn to back to knit 2nd st.
Lacy braid looks best working it as written at beg of rs rows and reversing it on other side. Garter band, then 2 st rev stst the pattern and straight into stst body.
Pre blocking, getting 18 sts to 4”. Pattern calls for 20.
After separating off sleeves, sz M has 152sts.
At gauge, 152/20x4=30.4”
Mine, 152/18x4=33.8”
So both significantly under the stated chest size of 38”.
Started the cardigan properly 16-1-17
Inc’ed to 240, work 5 garter ridges on arms (excluding spine of inc) then cast off knitwise on ws for 6th ridge to match neck.
Used all the yarn except the very thinnest ball. Broke into that and used doubled for the cast off. It would’ve been ok to use, but it was a nice length without. The thick stuff was very thick and I was pushing it really on the 5mm needles, but it does look ok surprisingly! Difficult to capture in a picture, it’s more about feel. Drape it does not-lol! Hope to stretch it quite a bit in the blocking…
