Using the orange doubled.
32 sts on 5mm needles (2 repeats of the 16 st pattern repeat) measures just over 11cm across, unstretched, so 22cm diameter.
Going to do a moebius…
My willow cowl is about the fit I want and that’s 50cm around.
64sts would be 44cm, too small and not accounting for the twist (and I think the st pattern would draw in more if I’d carried on)
5 repeats, 80 sts, would be 55cm, I’ll try that first. So with the Cat Bordhi cast on, I’ll need 160
Moebi starts with a 2 colour cast on. I didn’t realise the significance of this, so used the regular moebius cast on. I suspect it would’ve got rid of the blue line between the start of the orange columns. But no biggie.
I used moebi mostly to learn that, at the half way point, you reverse all directions. So brk slyo…becomes slyo brp
For the right leaning dec, to work it on the ws-

keeping yfwd sl 1, p1, pass back to lh and pass next st over, pass back to rh and psso with needle to back

For the left leaning dec, to work it on the ws-

P2tog, turn next st around, pass p2tog st to lh needle, slip turned st over it

Size seems ok, and a pattern is definitely emerging…

Turns out I didn’t need to swap direction half way through, but by doing so, I’ve got the same colour working out from the centre with a change half way round. So now I need to do another and do the same all the way round…
