I knit and felted the pumpkin first and put the furrow lines on. Then I traced leaves from a cookie cutter onto felt and cut them out. I needle felted them onto the pumpkin like crazy, making sure they completely adhered to it. The I embroidered, using the chain stitch, veins for the leaves. This will help to fasten the leaves to the pumpkin as well. The acorn top was embellished with french knots for texture.

This size pumpkin lends itself to embellishing!
