Who would have thought the Big Montana pattern wasn’t knitted with BIG Montana!

I really like how it turned out with the “BIG” Montana yarn (that was a purchase mistake on my part). I would have loved it if I had started the pattern one size down. I ended up decreasing an extra 12 stitches once I noticed my gauge was off (because of the wrong yarn) So most of it fits OK, but is too baggy in the hips.

The Montana yarn is sensitive as others have commented. It really is just roving and if you pull too hard it falls apart. Just have to watch your tension and it is a pleasure to use. Soft and fluffy with a lot of substance.

Jan 8- Yarn arrived and I thought it was weird that it called for size 17 needles, but started knitting anyway. Going through yarn so quick I double checked the yardage. Oh no- only 71 yards and supposed to be 130! Double check on Tahki’s website to discover a “Montana” that is 130 yards and a “Big Montana” that is what I bought. Checked gauge and it is close on so I am going to try it. I really like how the stitches look, so fingers crossed it comes out OK.
